Event Info

The KSU Day of Service is designed as an opportunity to say thanks to our local community that has supported the university in many important ways throughout its history. Volunteers participate in a variety of projects that meet the specific needs of community organizations throughout Cobb County and Metro Atlanta. The 2019 Day of Service is on March 23rd.

PLEASE NOTE: This year we will have check-in, breakfast and departure at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The 2018 Day of Service schedule, service site locations, transportation and parking, and waiver information is listed below. 

  • 7:45am - 8:30am - Registration and Check-In @ Fifth Third Bank Stadium
    8:30am - 9:00am - Travel to Service Sites (transportation provided to some sites)
    9:00am - 11:30pm - Service Project
    12:00pm - Return to the Black Lot @ Fifth Third Stadium

    Belmont Hills Elementary School 
    Project Description: Put picnic tables together, vegetable garden, planting

    Project Description: Campus clean up, painting of restrooms and perhaps straw and mulch spreading. We will also be cleaning instructional spaces.

    Foster Care Support Foundation 
    Project Description: Sort and size incoming clothing donations, restock the distribution center for easy selection by foster children.

    Beyond Limits Therapeutic Riding
    Project Description: paint/ build jumps, make arena activities for lessons, dust/sweep/clean barn, out up shelves for tack area, groom/bathe/clip horses (if experienced)

    Good Mews 
    Project description: Help cleaning up the grounds and Wildlife Sanctuary; cleaning bird feeders; wash exterior windows; steam clean cat trees.

    Hayes Elementary School
    Project Description: Some volunteers will paint the trim inside of various places inside the building. Other volunteers will work on landscaping the area on the side of the building and planting plants.

    Project Description: Outside general landscape and yard clean up, weeding, playground equipment cleaning and repair, trees trimming, outside window trim painting, sign painting, outdoor stair painting, filling bird feeders, inside kitchen cleaning, fellowship hall table and chair cleaning, various odd jobs

    Project Description: Clearing invasive plants out of the woods, repair work on the bridge, general brush clearing for line of sight purposes

    Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club
    Project Description: Volunteers perform trail maintenance on the 20+miles of trails at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club provides Crew Leader supervision, tools, work gloves (or bring your own) and water.

    Weatherbyrne Neighborhood
    Project Description: Volunteers will assist in the Weatherbyrne/Big Shanty area neighborhood with a beautification project to include mulching.

    Transportation Marietta/Kennesaw Campus: BOB buses will be available to shuttle students from both Student Centers at 7:30am to the Fifth Third Stadium.

     

  • In order to participate in the Day of Service, all volunteers are required to sign the liability waiver the day of the event. If you are a KSU student, faculty or staff member the liability waiver will be included in the registration process electronically.

    If you are a community member or KSU Almuni, the waiver is attached here, you can print it and bring it that morning or complete it at check-in.

    Please note - If you are bringing a minor child with you that you are unable to sign on their behalf as Parent/Guardian, please make sure to have the waiver form printed out and signed and ready to submit at the event.
